Don’t Get Me Wrong, I Support FireFox, but
since the last version update, about a month ago (I am running on version 2.0.0.14 now) FF is becoming a great burden on my system(s).
@ work, I have an Apple G4 (not a weak machine at all, I do video rendering and other heavy stuff with it!) and my FF “hangs” at least twice a day, causing my OSX to “hang” too. @ home on a pretty good PC it just drags on and on, the system becomes so slow and almost impossible to work on so I have to work with IE (which I really don’t want to).
As far as I can tell we are dealing with huge memory leaks (at least 15 to 20% more memory usage than IE on average and not mentioning peaks which move up to 95% memory usage and than it “hangs”).
FireFox, are you drinking my milkshake?
[Update] Just did a simple test. Opened same page in IE6 and FF2. Both browsers peaked @ 30,000K plus on memory usage. Then left them alone for a few minutes. IE6 went back to 1,000 – 2,000K memory usage and FF goes up to about 40,000K plus and STAYS there! Then whatever I do in FF makes the memory usage go over 50,000K and stay there! IE when same tasks are performed, does peak at more less the same memory usage but it eventually goes back to the original ten times less memory usage then FF… So, I guess, you are drinking my milkshake, FireFox! Release my memory! [/Update]
